If millennials have their way, the jobs of the future will look pretty different from the jobs of today.
The National Society of High School Scholars surveys 18,000 millennials, asking them about their idea jobs. And it ain’t lawyers and accountants and government public servants.
Preferred jobs for millennials: First, they all want to work for Google, Walt Disney and Apple; these there the #1, #2 and #4 preferred employers. Two more of the top 10 were also internet/IT firms.
Secondly, becoming a spy is a big thing. The FBI and CIA were also in the top 10. I suppose the recent emphasis on homeland security and the barrage of TV shows glamorizing spy agencies (see Homeland or 24 as popular example).
Some of the traditional favourite places to work – the big banks for example – are way down the list. Apparently we aren’t yet filling to forgive and forget for the Great Recession of 2008.
