I had blogged earlier about the sleep out going on tonight to raise awareness for homeless people. I am there now and there is an amazing group of people, mostly families, who are choosing the spend the night outdoors in the chilly Canadian fall to raise awareness of homelessness issues.
There are at least 200 people in total and, while the weather is warmer than normal for this time of year it will still get pretty cool. I just chatted with a 10 year old here and it was very interesting. Despite coming from a life of privilege, she really gets what this is all about and how difficult it is for people to have to sleep outside very night (and they don;t have tents).
This is a great event so far. A small gesture, but a meaningful one.
