This is a little trite, but given the season I thought I would pass it on.
I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping with my 9 year old daughter yesterday and we passed a homeless person in the street and my daughter asked if he would be getting anything for Christmas. I was honest with her and told her that he might get something from the shelter, but when compared with us he would be getting virtually nothing for Christmas. She got very sad, as she still believes in Santa, and assumed he would be getting something from Santa and it had not fully struck her that everyone would not get things for Christmas. She was, and still is, very upset by this. As a Dad it makes me feel good to see this level of empathy in my daughter.
So, on this night before Christmas, any of who are lucky enough to have a place to sleep and, hopefully, people who care for us, we should be thankful.
Have a peaceful and Happy Christmas.
