I did two weeks of block 2 to get back into things and started on block 3 on Monday. The first two days of Block 3 – Decelerator and Agility X were a challenge.
First Decelerator – very good workout with some really tough moves. The workout cycles an upper body and then a lower body move through the 30 minute. The lower body moves are pretty standard and very consistent with what we saw in block 2. As long as your balance developed well in phase 2 (or through other exercises) the lower body portion is good but very doable. The upper body is a different story. Some of the upper body moves are fine; others – chin pulls, crane cracker push ups – are really, really tough. The core strength, balance and upper body strength required to do some of these moves is simply beyond me.
Yesterday was Agility X. We did this one in block 1 and I loved it. It is a great cardio and lower body workout. It is tough (even very tough) but very doable if you keep pushing through. There are a few moves that really tire you out – double tuck knee jumps for example – but they are always followed by an easier exercise. What I really like about Agility X is that is pushed you hard for the full 30 minutes, but it always stays doable if you are willing to work through your tiredness. Unlike pull-ups or some of the core moves in other workouts, there is no move in Agility that you cannot do for the full minute if you simply push yourself.
Feels great to be doing X3 regularly again.
