I wrote a post recently citing a new scientific study that found men who look at women’s breasts live longer. Well, in the spirit of citing scientific evidence that supports exactly what I want to hear…
There is now solid scientific evidence that staying up late, having lots of sex and use of recreational drugs makes you smarter. True Story.
- Lots of sex: researchers at Cambridge and Oxford (they’re prestigious UK universities, for all you non-sex having lesser intelligent beings) found that better students and students at the best universities were having more sex and spending more money on sex toys than their less intelligent peers
- Recreational Drugs: A study cited in Psychology Today found that smarter people are significantly more likely to indulge in recreations drugs. The actual finding “”Very bright” individuals (with IQs above 125) are roughly three-tenths of a standard deviation more likely to consume psychoactive drugs than “very dull” individuals (with IQs below 75).”
- Staying up Late: A study in the journal Psychology And Individual Differences found that, traditionally, people have worked during the day and slept at night. It is the innovators and the ambitious that buck this trend by staying up late… and they tend to be more intelligent.
The theory: all of these behaviours – using drugs, staying up late and having lots of sex – are signs of an open and adventurous mind; an attribute strongly linked to intelligence.
