I have blogged often about the benefits of opening yourself to new experiences and new opportunities. Be they sexual, social or physical, I think we grow and keep ourselves interesting and interested if we leave ourselves open to new things.
But, how do we get those opportunities? Sure you may become open to a threesome or climbing a mountain… but the threesome and the mountain may not be beating down your door.
So, how so we create opportunities for new experiences. A few tips
- Make ‘Yes’ your default setting. I have a friend whose New Years resolution was to say yes when asked. No matter what… but within reason
- Get out of your house and your social circles. Hang out with new and different people.. be they at a new bar, a rock climbing gym or a sex club
- Exude positivity. I can always tell, in a crowd, who may be interesting and open to adventure. They tend to smile a lot, they engage willingly in conversation and they allow conversations to proceed on their natural (if unpredictable) course. Be that person
- And most importantly, be the one who asks. There are a million people who want to engage, to get out of their bubble, to explore… but no one asks them. Be the one who asks
