Masturbation is good.
The health benefits of masturbation are becoming near incontrovertible (reduced stress, improved prostate health). Relationship experts are increasingly coming to consensus that it is an important element of a healthy relationship. All good.
But is it ever too much. I was watching an interview with someone recently who said she masturbates 4-8 times a day. A friend of mine confided recently that she masturbated 14 times one day as she was just discovering the pleasure of it.
There are reams of examples of men who just can’t seem o get enough.
So, how much is too much, or are there warning signs we ‘healthy masturbators’ should be looking out for and who do we know if we are doing it well:
1. Have a healthy ‘relationship’ with masturbation. I am a firm believer that if we can discuss sex and masturbation as a ‘normal’ part of our development, we will learn the skills to have a healthy and reasonable approach to masturbation.
2. If masturbation is keeping you from going out, getting to work on time or otherwise engaging in social behaviour, you may want to back off.
3. Do it alone and do it with your partner. Nothing is hotter than a little mutual masturbation. It looks hot and helps you learn how your partner likes to be pleasured.
4. There is an appropriate place and many inappropriate places. Know the difference.
Keep these in mind, and have fun.
