I never expected to like Homeland. I had been expecting an overwrought, chest thumping drama. I was wrong. For the most part, I find the acting exceptional and the storyline really compelling. The first two seasons had a great story arc that really had me looking forward to each new episode.
But given the end of Season 2, where do they go now? The producers made, what seems to me, a very odd decision to keep almost all of the cast members in the show for season 3. I do not know how they will (i) make the lives of Brody’s family interesting now that Brody is gone; (ii) follow both the investigation going on in the US and Brody’s new life on the run; and (iii) create compelling interpersonal drama now that Brody and Carrie are separated.
I will certainly give it a chance, but this season will be a bog challenge.
