For many, their golden years come with a corresponding drop in sex life and sexual satisfaction. Fortunately, new research form the University of Ottawa shows that this need not be the case.
Dr. Peggy Kleinplatz, a professor in the faculty of medicine at the University of Ottawa conducted interviews with individuals aged 60 to 82 to try to discern some of the pre-conditions for amazing sex into your twilight years. Here’s what she found:
– If you want to continue to have great sex, you need to work for it. Individuals who reported great sex later in life said they focussed on living in the moment and prioritizing sex and pleasure’
– You need to stagy in synch with your partner. As you age as a couple, your lives can diverge and become separate or they can stay connected. Stay close
– Stay authentic – be completely honest and resist any temptation to hide who you are and what you want; and finally
– open up you relationship – fully half of the couples interviewed who said they had great sex lives did not embrace monogamy. They were in some form of open or poly relationship.
